Media Editing task
Idea: Interviewing Santa, his reindeer and his elf.
Location: Classroom
Sequence of events: Enter interview room, interviewer and Santa talking to each other, flashbacks when Santa tells a story, End video with a fade out.

1 SCENE 1- Entering the room
Laiyla taps clipboard/paper notes on table in preparation
A pan of the room is shown and back to laiyla fixing her clothes- camera still yet to show her face
Shot shifts to door opening and theres a slow tilt showing Santa entering
Tracking shot of santa walking to the seat across followed by his elf
Elf pulls chair out for stand then tucks it back in
Camera shows Laiyla's face
Camera cuts back to santa sitting and his face is in frame.
2 SCENE 2- Introduction
Background clapping and laughter begins as camera pans out into and establishing shot
Laiyla takes the microphone and introduces TV show, herself and welcomes audience
LAIYLA
[Boldly]
Good evening and welcome back! I am your host Laiyla Biant of your favourite tv show "...." and we're back with Santa!
I hope you enjoyed the short break and had lots of Cookies and MILK!
[Turns to Santa]
Welcome father christmas, how are you doing?
SANTA
[brushing off Elf trying to fix his collar]
HO HO HO! I am jolly as always, I love the set up you have here.
The camera pans around the room showing the set up (its mediocre)
LAIYLA
[chuckles and taps clip board]
Thank you, let's get started
3 Scene 3- Interview
LAIYLA
[Taps mic]
So let's get right into it! It is currently December 2nd... I'm assuming your elves has already gotten started with the gift making and wrapping?
Elf looks away shamefully and nervously whilst cracking knuckles. Interview goes on distinctively in the background.
SANTA
[pointing at where elf is standing]
Oh of course! my trusty elves are completely on it right now as we speak
Elf sneaks out of interview room to go speak to Reindeer (comet)
Camera reveals comet sitting outside annoyed
Elf has a worried look on his face
4 Scene 4- Miscommunication
ELF
[concerned]
Comet did you remember to remind rudolph to remind the elves to start making gifts for the children..
COMET
[confused]
Dude what? You're the elf. You should've told your elf mates to do that.. matter of fact YOU should've BEEN doing that!
ELF
[rolls eyes]
Don't even go there, you promised me you would if i stayed up all night with you last night
COMET
[chuckles]
What? oh please as if we remember anything after last night.
5 Scene 5- flashback to last night
Scene dissolves into a flash back of the previous night. Comet and elf drinking and laughing while ignoring the other elves and reindeers. They are completely wasted
Scene dissolves back into the present Elf visibly frustrated
Elf sit his self next to comet on the floor and looks
ELF
[sighs]
So what now?
Camera cuts to comet's face
[Elf continues]
Santa is in there yapping about how his elves are absolutely on it..
Camera cuts back to elf's face and back to comet's. completely silent
The silence gets broken from the distinct playing of christmas music in the interview room.
Comet gets up to open the door to the room. Camera switches from OTS to close extreme close up on hands opening the door.
As the door opens the music gets louder and more clear
Comets peeks his head through, Elf follows underneath
Laiyla and Santa a long with the "audience" is singing and dancing along to the song
Camera cuts to medium close up of Santa and he gestures for them to come inside.
6 Scene 6- mini party in the interview room
They're all vibing to the song
COMET
[mistakenly]
This is a good distraction from the fact we are totally behind on those gifts making
Record stops. Everyone goes silent and freezes.
Comet gasps and covers his mouth. Camera is close up on his face the cuts to close up of Elf's shocked/ guilty face.
Camera cuts to Santa's angry and confused face
Camera cuts to Laiyla's awkward/ shocked face.
SANTA
[angry and facing elf]
WHAT!?
Elf stutters in attempt to defend himself but fails
Camera cuts to santa's feet marching up to elf
Camera cuts to close up of santa's hands swinging and hitting elf in the face
Loud slapping sound as santa's hand connects to elf's face
Elf collapse to the floor
Sound goes off as Santa goes on a big rant marching around the room.
Jump cuts of the characters in different positions to show passing time as his rant goes on
Rant ends. Camera cuts to santa's angry face glaring at elf
Camera cuts to elf shamefully looking down
Laiyla and comet is tired and yawns as so much time went by.
7 Scene 7- Busted
Scene fades back in. Santa is still mad. Elf still has no words. Comet feels guilty for snitching.
SANTA
[fed up]
Elf you are FIRED!
Gasps from the audience and laiyla looks around trying to find her mic.
Silence as the camera shows each of the characters through a medium long shot
LAIYLA
[clears her throat]
So uhm that's all that we have today folks! Make sure to come back next time on "*insert tv show name*"
Camera fades out into a black screen effectively showing the characters emotions and expressions as well as it ends.
